GULPVISION

With 8+ years professional, commercial filmmaking experience with Wash Studios and an extensive back catalogue of music videos in his repertoire, co-founder Tomas Walmsley is at the helm of our media output. A BA Filmmaking graduate, he aims to approach our projects and commissioned films

to approach our projects and commissioned films with the same experimental, maximalist energy provoked in our broadsheet. We provide services in footage and sound capture, editing, art direction, colour grading and lighting through the strong network of freelance creatives we collaborate with.

Live sessions

Since our inception, GULP has teamed up with promoters, venues and directly with bands to film cinematic live sessions, shot at locations scouted for the best acts on our collective radar. Grassroots music venues have played an important role in the formation of our artistic platform, being the nucleus for watching the bands we work with, our main site of distribution for the magazine through hosting gigs and existing at the centre of our social lives.

We want to build stronger bonds between the creative local community through showcasing emerging talent and documenting the DIY spirit that is rich in the region’s history, as well as documenting the international musicians that pass through Manchester and contribute to its strong cultural identity.

GULP begins transmission of GULPVISION #2 on the stage of legendary music venue Band on the Wall, with an energetic 3 song session from the world renowned W.I.T.C.H.

Full Throttle

A collaboration between GULP and Sour Grapes Records, FULL THROTTLE was a docuseries capturing the label’s Squeeze nights at Manchester haunt Big Hands and special one-offs around the city. The series documents the program of quality, heavy bands they’ve enlisted to grace grassroots venue's stages and their rampant devotees. No fuss, no frills, full throttle.

GULP captures L.A space garage riot HOOVERIII along with local fuzz makers Farfisa and Brighton's Wax Machine at Projekts skatepark.

From the concrete depths under Mancunian way, the live and dangerous scenes of Sour Grapes’s latest grassroots gathering lets underground sound resonate all throughout the city.

What Else?

What Else? is GULP’s docuseries chronicling moments in the careers of the most exciting and influential creatives we have come into contact with, either through our magazine, exhibitions and film projects or our personal lives. We wanted to create an opportunity to capture the pearls of wisdom and humorous anecdotes from artists who might not usually be documented in a film-like capacity. Watch along as we delve into a character study of our scene.

GULP chats with Kat Wood - photographer and print artist based in the Peak District and Manchester.

Her practice focuses on the farm where she grew up and which has been in her family for generations. After graduating from BA Fine Art Photography at Glasgow School Of Art, Wood has built an impressive body of work, documenting rural life and the processes associated with the working hill farm. She blends the techniques learnt from rearing animals and utilises the agricultural produce to create unique pieces and projects.
